Canker Sores
Ouch, I dealt with these things for over 30 years. Huge painful sores on the inside of the mouth seemingly triggered by anything, biting your jaw or tongue, maybe eating chips or simply brushing your teeth. I would sometimes have 3 to 4 at a time. I have had them so bad I would eat with tears in my eyes from the pain. After years and years of suffering with these and avoiding certain foods and chemicals, experimenting with this and that, searching the web and reading books I have finally "controlled" mine. It seems my control can be attributed to 2 things:
1) Taking 1,000 mg of L-Lysine a day. I found this very odd at first but after some studying saw that Lysine helps with the bodies natural healing process. After taking this for 10 months I have had one breakout of canker sores, see note 2, where I used to have them almost unending, when one would leave another would be starting.
2) Avoid Glycerin. Even after taking Lysine if I tried using some mouth wash containing glycerin and I still broke out in sores. Stay away from toothpaste or mouthwash that contains glycerin if have canker sores.
Following these 2 simple steps have stopped my flare-ups for nearly a year now. some people say just take Lysine when you feel one coming on but to me that is already to late. It took a week of taking lysine to get it into my system where I actually saw the effects of it. Hope this helps you and if you have any questions you can email me. doc at gt7 dot net.
